ECHA: New Candidate Lists for SVHC and Annex XIV (12 January 2012)
On 19 December 2011, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added 20 more substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the Candidate List, bringing the total to 73 substances. However, none of these new SVHC candidates are used in Schlötter additives. ECHA also recommended to the European Commission that 13 SVHCs should be included in the list of substances subject to authorisation (Annex XIV of the REACH regulation), including chromic acid, dichromic acid, chromium trioxide and cobalt sulphate. According to ECHA's planning, the European Commission should enter these substances into Annex XIV by February 2013. The EC will then also set the sunset date by when a substance can no more be used without authorisation. Companies seeking authorisation for a specific use would be required to file their applications by November 2014. . . . more
